Laurentian Lakefront Cottage

Welcome to Dainava. Our very charming, comfy lakefront property is only 45 minutes north of Montreal between Morin Heights & St. Sauveur. (2 hours from Ottawa), and is situated in the Morin Heights region in the Laurentian Mountains.

The house is very romantic with its paneled interior, while being ideal for families & couples & groups of friends…with something for everyone. There’s all types of great books on many subjects, games, puzzles & the like. This house has a wonderful collection of paintings on the walls for art lovers.

Sleeping for six to eight guests maximum is available at this property.

Laurentian Lakefront Cottage: living room

On the main level of the house, there is a spacious (30’by 18’) beautifully furnished living room with hardwood floors, leather couches, TV (satellite) with Satellite VCR/DVD, fireplace-and stunning lake views.

The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, cappuccino maker, and all dishes and utensils needed.

The house has a spacious dining area with hardwood floors. It has an extendable table that can easily seat 10.

There’s an enormous cathedral style master bedroom bed with a Queen sized bed with beautiful furnishings.

The mezzanine sitting area surrounded with plants and windows and is a perfect hide away to read, listen to music or just meditate.

A full bathroom with the bathtub in the middle of the room is on suite while being also available to the general area of the house.

Adjacent to the master bedroom is a lovely room with a double bed with colorful carpet & art work; for a child or adult.

The third bedroom (green room) is on the lower level with a Queen size bed, art deco bedroom set and a collection of paintings. It has its own patio doors going out to its own little patio looking out on the lake, and a short few steps to the dock.

Bedroom 4 has a double hide-a-bed with a topper, and lots of room to play, read and listen to music and a huge window looking on the lake.

Laurentian Lakefront Cottage : piano lounge

The lower level has an oak paneled and floored piano living area with two pianos; one decorative and one for playing. There is a comfortable double hide a bed in this room. This room also exits on to the lawn.

The laundry room, utilities room and another large full bathroom with shower are on this level as well. This entire floor is wonderfully cool even on the hottest days of summer.

Laurentian Lakefront Cottage : outside

Outside the cottage has a beautiful 100 foot wrap around balcony (gas BBQ) that overlooks the ½ acre property with it’s lovely grounds, lawn and trees and there’s an outside fireplace to roast marshmallows. In the spring and fall the stream that runs through the property can be clearly heard.

The lawn slopes down from the main level to the lake, where there’s a large dock, with a pedal boat, rowboat, canoe and a kayak to suit all tastes. One can literally have a flotilla! Across the lake is a wonderful sandy beach for swimming and for children to play safely.

There is a great deal to do including fishing, & boating. In the summer there is great fishing 20 minutes away at Lac des 16 Isles, a fantastic water park in St. Sauveur, and a hundred restaurants to eat at.

Guests have our water craft to the lovely sandy beach area across the lake, available to lake dwellers and visitors only.

There is another larger beach at the end of the lake running along Tamaracouta Road, near the dam. Both places offer wonderful swimming.

In the winter one can go skiing only 5 minutes away in Morin Heights village or 12 minutes from many major hills in St. Sauveur. All other ski centers are less than a half hour away, while Mont Tremblant, the Aspin of Quebec is only 45 minutes from the cottage. Morin Heights area is the center for cross country skiing in the Laurentians, with a miles of trails, plus there is sledding, sliding and many other snow activities.

Payment and Deposits

All rates are in Canadian funds

A deposit of 50% of the entire rental fee is due upon reservation by e-transfer or cheque made out to Les Immobiliers Milrav or Lucy Ravinsky. (Cancellation of the reservation MUST be made at least 4 weeks in advance of the booking or the deposit will be forfeited.) The remaining 50% must be paid by e-transfer or cheque at least 2 weeks prior to occupation and failing that, in cash.

Upon finalizing your reservation we will send documents to finalize your booking of your cottage, with information on where to send the documents once you have completed them.

There is a cleaning fee of $300 added to all bookings The damage deposit which is refundable, and depends on length of stay, is $750-1000 Visitors must sign a non liability document before occupying the house.

We suggest getting your food in Morin Heights at Vaillancourt or the IGA, or in Saint-Sauveur at either the Metro or Loblaws.

Connectivity

Cell phone service works in the area. The house has wifi, and satellite TV with Netflix.

From Montreal:
Take 15 north till exit 60. At lights, go left over bridge, and keep right. Continue on RTE 364 west until you get to Morin Heights Village indicators and turn left into the Village (329 south). Drive right through and continue for approx. 6km to TAMARACOUTA ROAD. Turn right, go down the hill, cross a small bridge. Just after the post boxes turn left into Lake Dainava Road. The house is on the left, a half mile from the entrance. It says 161 on the wooden garbage box. Parking is on both sides of the road.

From the Ottawa area:
Depending on where in Ottawa you are coming from - look at a map and follow directions to Lachute. Once in Lachute, you will turn left up the 329 North. At TAMARACOUTA ROAD turn left and continue as indicated above.
